Zion Parents' Association
The Zion Parents' Association (ZPA) is a group of parents and guardians who work together to support school life and help make Zion the warm and welcoming community it is.
Throughout the year, we organise extracurricular activities (ECAs), family events and fundraising initiatives that give children opportunities to learn new skills, make friends and create lasting memories. Just as importantly, they give parents and families opportunities to connect, get involved and become part of the wider Zion community.
Whether you're new to the school or have been part of Zion for years, there are plenty of ways to get involved, meet other families and share ideas.
Extra-Curricular Activities (ECAs)
We are delighted to coordinate a range of after-school activities throughout the year, giving children the chance to try something new, discover new interests and, most importantly, have fun.
Our current programme includes:
· ArtZone art classes
· The Brickx Club (LEGO)
· Tennis at Rathgar Tennis Club
· Swimming at Templeogue Swimming Pool, culminating in our annual Swimming Gala
· Soccer in Bushy Park
· Hockey at High School
· Stage School (Drama), alongside Bushy Park Forest School, from September 2026
· High School tag rugby sessions for Zion children
Our ECA programme continues to evolve and grow based on the interests and needs of our children and families.
Bringing Our Community Together
One of the things families often say they love most about Zion is the sense of community, and the ZPA is proud to play a small part in that.
Each year begins with our Welcome BBQ, held at High School, where new and returning families come together to celebrate the start of another school year.
Some of the other highlights throughout the 2025–2026 year included:
· Our much-loved Spring Supper, catered by Bijou, featuring great food, good company and fundraising activities.
· The Secret Artist Exhibition, where pupils' artwork is displayed alongside pieces from professional artists, creating a truly unique community event.
· Four eagerly anticipated Pizza Days, always a favourite with the children and generously supported by Pizza Pettito, Rathgar.
· Visits from Santa Claus at Christmas and the Easter Bunny in spring, creating plenty of excitement and lasting memories.
· Our annual Family Camping Weekend, a wonderful way to round off the school year, where families come together for a fun-filled weekend of outdoor adventures and community spirit.
These events bring families together, create lasting memories and help make Zion such a special place to be.
Celebrating School Life
The ZPA also enjoys supporting many of the traditions and events that are part of life at Zion.
Together with the school and parish community, we help support events such as:
· Teddy's Ice Cream to welcome everyone back to school
· Planting flowers, vegetables and pollinator-friendly plants in the school grounds
· The annual Pets' Service
· The Blessing of the Crib
· The End-of-Year Summer Picnic
These are often the moments children remember long after they've left primary school.
Supporting Our School
Fundraising is an important part of what we do, helping to support activities, projects and opportunities that benefit children throughout the school.
Whether it's a raffle, Pizza Day, community event or social gathering, every contribution helps enhance school life and create new opportunities for our pupils.
A Glimpse of Life at Zion
The photographs featured throughout this page capture some of the activities, events and moments that help make Zion such a vibrant and welcoming school community. We hope they give prospective and current families a flavour of the experiences, opportunities and friendships that are part of school life here.
Get Involved
The Parents' Association is open to all parents and guardians.
Whether you can help regularly, lend a hand at the occasional event or simply share an idea, we'd love to hear from you. Every contribution, big or small, is appreciated.
Joining the ZPA is a great way to meet other families, support the school and play a part in the community that makes Zion such a special place for our children.
